Are You Getting It?

January 09, 2022 marks the 15th anniversary of the day the iPhone was unveiled.

"An iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator. An iPod, a phone… are you getting it? These are not three separate devices: This is one device, and we are calling it iPhone."

- Steve Jobs, January 09, 2007

This line from Apple's January 09, 2007 keynote announcing the iPhone must rank among the most iconic & exciting moments in Apple's history. As revolutionary as the device was for its time, looking back 15 years onward highlights how transformational the iPhone has become in every facet of our lives. The iPhone altered the landscape of smartphones, communication, content creation, and consumption itself. Had Steve been introducing the iPhone in 2022, he'd need a glass of water at the ready to begin listing everything a modern iPhone is capable of today:

Apple’s Homepage teaser that appeared on Apple.com on January 01, 2007.

But a week before the iPhone debuted at MacWorld on January 09, 2007, Apple put up a teaser image on their homepage that read: "The first 30 years were just the beginning. Welcome to 2007." The image featured a black Apple logo against a foggy blue background with light rays poking through. And moments before the iPhone's unveiling, it was this image that backdropped Steve as he proclaimed that "every once in a while, a revolutionary product comes along that changes everything" before going on to reveal the first iPhone. He was right about that!

And in honour of the 15th anniversary of the iPhone's unveiling, I am proud to release a wallpaper inspired by the image so intimately connected with the debut of the iPhone. I'm very proud of the finished product and am thrilled to share it on this significant anniversary. The wallpaper is available for the Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, and of course, iPhone. Enjoy.

Note:I’ve included a widescreen version for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The widescreen version produced a better wallpaper for the larger iPad in my testing. Just in case you were wondering what was going. But give both iPad images a shot and use the one you prefer the look of more.
