Braided Solo Loop 2021 Mockups
In 2021, I would love to see the addition of multicoloured braided added to the Braided Solo Loop.
Apple introduced the Braided Solo Loops alongside the Apple Watch Series 6/SE at their September 15, 2020, Time Flies event. At launch, the Braided Solo Loops were available in four solid colours (Atlantic Blue, Inverness Green, Pink Punch, & Charcoal); a PRODUCT(RED) version was announced at the event and was available for purchase later in the year. The Braided Solo Loops feature a recycled polyester knit designed to sit snuggly to the wrist but flexible enough to allow them to be easily slipped on and off.
Instantly the Braided Loops became one of my favourite bands from Apple. As comfortable as the Sport Loops while also being sweat and water-resistant, the Braided Solo Loops are a great casual/exercise band, yet they can easily be dressed up for more formal settings.
As delightful as the first batch of 2020 Braided Solo Loops were, I couldn't help imagining what changes 2021 could have in store for them, and first on my wish-list was to see the bands refreshed with multiple braided colour options. In a desperate effort to keep my brain from leaking out during a recent Zoom call, I had the chance to begin mocking up potential redesigns for the Braided Solo Loops.

Marine Blue & Autumn Braided Solo Loop.
I liked the look of two complementary colours paired with an intense contrasting third colour braided throughout the Solo Loop.
Marine Blue is inspired by a nautical colorway featuring a bold orange braid interwoven into the design.
The Autumn Braided Solo has more muted red/orange threading paired with a sharp, bright blue reminiscent of an early fall afternoon.
Nautical Dusk & Golden Hour Braided Solo Loops.
Nautical Dusk & Golden Hour are both inspired by the periods they are named after and offer a striking interplay of intense yet complementary tones.

I also mocked up six bands composed of similarly-coloured braids creating a more understated pattern on the wrist. These bands offer a more textured expression for the bands while maintaining their simple and elegant aesthetic.

And while we're at it, let's create some new Nike Braided Solo Loops. Each of these patterns are designed to look sportier & more vibrant by using strong contrasts and brighter palettes.

And finally, there's my pride and joy! Since 2016 Apple has released a Pride band for the Apple Watch, with a portion of proceeds supporting LGBTQ advocacy organizations both in the US and internationally. 2021s Pride band moves from the Sport Band to the Braided Solo Loop, and the result is the most stunning Pride band to date.
