So I did a podcast.

Or rather, a podcast episode. In June of this year, Jonathan Ruiz, cohost of the Everyday Robots podcast, got in touch with me about having me as a guest on his podcast. I believe my outward reaction at the time was "🤩🤩🤩" while my internal reaction was significantly more terror-stricken. It's not like I was afraid of Jonathan; no, it was that the idea of being interviewed and showing my raw and unscripted side was very intimidating.

Just as some people have a face for radio, I've always felt I had a voice for writing. And so when Jonathan reached out about the idea, as flattered as I was, I was filled with a lot of doubts. Just about every "what if" a person could have about doing it entered my head, and initially, I fought the urge to decline his offer.

The biggest thing that pushed me towards saying yes and doing the episode was remembering that this site, and everything that's come out of it in the last year, was taking risks outside of my comfort zone and embracing things that previously felt insurmountable. I wouldn't have this site if it weren't for going outside of my comfort zone, so I figured I shouldn't close the door on the opportunity and what it could result in. His assurances, as did the cheerleading of Mrs. BasicAppleGuy, also helped nudge me to take the plunge.

The interview with Jonathan was a lot of fun. Our hour-long conversation covered all things Apple (from current hardware to my infatuation with all things mini), my start as Basic Apple Guy, my creative "process" (if it can be called that), Panic's Playdate, the challenges of doing Fitness+ workouts when you have a very needy dog, and much more!

I encourage you to check out the conversation between Jonathan & me on Episode 101 of Everyday Robots, available on Apple Podcasts or wherever fine podcasts are available.
