Rocket

More than once this week have I asked myself "is it luscious enough?" when creating this design.

More than once this week have I asked myself "is it luscious enough?" when creating this design.

I'm proud to release my next wallpaper for all your iDevices: Rocket! This wallpaper came to life after multiple ideas converged into one to create this design. First, this design originally began as another project I started work on several weeks ago. As that idea sat on the back burner, the heat dome that first settled over the West Coast around California shifted up to the Pacific Northwest and settling over Western Canada & the United States. As a result, this past week has seen the town of Lytton record the hottest temperature ever recorded in Canada (121ºF) and many areas experiencing back-to-back record-breaking temperatures. And as I huddled in the darkest, coolest, shadiest parts of my home last week to shelter from the heat, I overheard the nostalgic tune of an ice-cream truck as it rolled by, promising sweet, overpriced relief from the unbelievable heat.

It's these three events that merged to form the inspiration for this latest wallpaper. Reminiscent of the iconic red, white, and blue Rocket Popsicles, I'm pleased to release this wallpaper as we head into Summer. It's a little off-brand as there's nothing Apple-related about it except for the fact that I made it on a Mac using Sketch & Pixelmator Pro. So to assuage my guilt about it, I created a six-colour variant as well. It was a delight to play inside Sketch and work through dozens upon dozens of iterations, attempting to get the colours, textures, and shading just right before stopping at this finished product.

Rocket is available for all your iDevices - iPhone, iPad, & Mac, while the Six-colour variant is available as an iPhone wallpaper. I hope you enjoy it!
