Shrederighi

Rock out with this new icon for GarageBand inspired by the 3-neck guitar Craig Federighi shredded at WWDC.

Apple Vision Pro was nice, but I'm all about the memeable Federighi moments. And during this year's WWDC keynote, the transition from discussing macOS to reviewing updates to Audio & Home was memorably made by Mr. Federighi shredding a 3-neck electric guitar (complete with a 🤘 'rock on' pin on his leather jacket and four rings spelling "WWDC" across his knuckles). It seemed like stagecraft - did he REALLY play that guitar? - but I felt confident enough to put my doubts to rest after Craig surprised everyone at The Talk Show with John Gruber with another guitar solo. Of course he plays guitar!

After seeing something like that, the Garageband icon for iOS felt basic; it just didn't have the same moxie. To right a wrong, I took to Sketch and modelled out the guitar used by Craig, complete with optional six-colour stripe detailing. I added Garageband's D74448 to EDBE4E gradient to back it, and voila, a much more metal Garageband icon was born!

The icon is available with and without the six-colour stripes. Enjoy.

And if you're unfamiliar with setting custom icons in iOS via the shortcuts app, good friend Stephen Robles (aka The Bearded Teacher) has created a great tutorial to guide you through the process.
