Apple Books During a Pandemic
While the world was amid #ToiletPaperApocalypse, I was in the middle of my own stockpiling of sorts: ravenously purchasing discounted books from the Apple Books.
When the early months of the pandemic radically reduced the places and things I could access, I, along with many others around the world, found myself tuning in to digital and streaming services for entertainment, distraction, and good old-fashioned retail therapy.
And though it might've been my imagination during this pandemic, it has felt like more books, and more high-quality books (my perception), would regularly see deep discounts of 50-75% off their regular price. These discounts made it easy to be persuaded & pick up dozens of books in the past few months and read more than I have in years.
And to increase my savings, I have exclusively purchased iTunes gift cards for years when retailers (In my area that's Costco) discount their gift cards by 15-20%. I am making purchases for 80-cents on the dollar, turning a $9.99 book to a $7.99 purchase, or discounting a $29.99 box set to $23.99.
