Total Solar Eclipse
On April 08, 2024, a total solar eclipse will arch across a vast swath of the southern United States and parts of Mexico, swing upwards along the east coast, and touch the easternmost tip of Canada.
For those fortunate to be on, or to have travelled to, the path of totality, the sight should be nothing short of spectacular. As luck would have it, the ratio of size and distance of our moon and sun from Earth creates the opportunity for the moon to occlude the sun once every couple of years. This results in a brilliant spectacle of day turning to night, reddening the horizon, and creating a glowing halo in the sky for the few minutes that the moon blots out the sun. It is a sight I have long wanted to see and something on my bucket list for some in the next decade (or if I stay put, there's one coming my way in 2044).
Anyway, here's a wallpaper I accidentally created commemorating the event. It would have just been a social post, but I liked it enough to share it as a wallpaper for your devices. Enjoy!
