While stores across the US, Australia, Mexico, & Brazil reopen, a second wave of COVID-19 cases is beginning to be felt across Europe, resulting in a new ripple of store closures felt across the continent.

The month of September was highlight by Apple reopening many of its retail locations, which had closed a second time due to COVID-19 cases.

A trend seen throughout August was the temporary closure of retail locations. Globally, several locations would temporarily close for 4-14 days before reopening to the public. August also saw a significant slowdown in Apple Stores closing indefinitely due to increasing COVID-19 cases. However, several US states and Spain saw such closures as higher COVID-19 case rates continued in localized areas.

July saw Apple continue to close a sizeable portion of its US retail stores in response to growing coronavirus cases across the country. By the end of July, Apple had closed 115 retail locations for a second time across the United States, and 5 in the state of Victoria in Australia.

June saw Apple reopen 234 additional retail stores globally. However, surging cases in the United States and an isolated outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK resulted in Apple closing 33 retail locations in June, with additional closures beginning in July.
